Navia Weekly Roundup (Nov 2 – 6, 2026)

Week in the Review
Indian benchmark indices ended the week and Samvat 2082 on a strong note, with the Sensex and Nifty surging, and marking their biggest weekly gains in six years. The rally was supported by encouraging corporate earnings, renewed foreign investor inflows, a sharp decline in crude oil prices, easing US Treasury yields and a stronger rupee against the US dollar.
Indices Analysis
For the week, the Nifty 50 soared 1,762.55 points, or 7.58%, to close at 25,030.35, while the BSE Sensex jumped 7.42% to end at 81,028.02, their biggest weekly gains since February 2021. The Bank Nifty rose 7.75% to 59,086.00 and the Fin Nifty surged 10.13% to 27,283.95. Friday’s 1,718-point Sensex rally was the seventh straight session of gains, the Nifty’s longest winning run in 14 months, and both benchmarks closed at their highest levels in over eight months as BSE-listed market capitalisation swelled by about ₹28.7 lakh crore over the week.
Foreign money did the heavy lifting. FIIs bought about ₹15,000 crore of Indian equities on Thursday alone, their biggest single-day net purchase in nearly six years, after four straight sessions of buying, as funds rotated out of AI-linked US technology, where weak Qualcomm results knocked the Nasdaq down 5.5% on Thursday, and into emerging markets. Brent crude slipped below $100 a barrel from about $113 the previous Friday, with MCX crude down 12.16%, while US Treasury yields fell after the Democrats’ midterm win raised hopes of an end to the US-Iran conflict; India’s 10-year yield dropped 11 basis points on Thursday, its biggest fall in seven months, a direct tailwind for the banks and NBFCs that led the rally.
Earnings kept the bid alive: SBI’s Q2 profit rose 14.3% to ₹23,038 crore, Titan’s standalone profit more than doubled to ₹2,393 crore, ONGC’s jumped 57.3% with an ₹8 interim dividend, Hindalco’s rose 59% to ₹7,532 crore and LIC’s climbed 20% to ₹12,115 crore, with ICICI Securities noting Nifty valuations have moderated to about 17 times earnings. Even so, Samvat 2082 closed with the Nifty down 3.1% and the Sensex down 4%, their worst Samvat since 2011, after foreign investors sold about $31.3 billion of Indian equities in 2026. Samvat 2083 opens with the special Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 8, and attention then turns to whether the FII return holds.
