Navia vs 5paisa: A Complete Broker Comparison

Your broker’s fees quietly shape your returns. Navia and 5paisa are both SEBI-registered discount brokers. Their costs work very differently once you look past the marketing. Here’s the comparison from both brokers’ own published rates.

In short: Navia charges zero brokerage for life, across equity, F&O, and commodities. 5paisa’s zero brokerage lasts only 30 days. After that, every order costs ₹20, forever. For active traders, that gap can add up to thousands* of rupees a year. Navia also charges zero AMC for life, while 5paisa charges roughly ₹354 a year. Navia also offers access to bonds through its BondVue integration, while 5paisa currently offers currency derivatives, which are not available on Navia.

Navia offers zero brokerage for life across equity delivery, intraday, and F&O trades. 5paisa’s zero-brokerage offer runs for 30 days only. After that, its standard plan charges ₹20 per executed order, on every segment. A single round-trip trade costs ₹40 at 5paisa, once the free period ends. At Navia, it costs ₹0, every month.

Say you place 20 intraday round trips a month. That’s 40 orders in total. At 5paisa’s standard rate, that’s ₹800 a month in brokerage, or roughly ₹9,600 a year. At Navia, the same 40 orders cost ₹0.

Trade more actively, with 75 options round trips a month, and 5paisa’s brokerage climbs to ₹3,000 a month. That’s close to ₹36,000 a year. Navia’s brokerage stays at ₹0.

This illustration considers brokerage charges only. Statutory charges such as STT, GST, exchange transaction charges, SEBI turnover fees and stamp duty are applicable separately.

(Brokerage only — statutory charges like STT and GST apply equally at both brokers.)

No expiry date, unlike 5paisa’s 30-day offer.

No minimum trade size or subscription needed.

⚫ Costs stay predictable, trade after trade, year after year

⚫ Frequent traders may benefit from reduced brokerage costs over time.

Brokerage is an important cost consideration for many traders. Investors may compare brokerage, AMC, platform features and supported products before choosing a broker. Navia now covers bonds too, via Bond Vue, closing an old gap. Based on publicly available information at the time of writing, 5paisa offers currency derivatives, while Navia currently does not. Run your own trade count through a brokerage calculator to see your exact savings.

⚫ Navia charges ₹0 brokerage for life. 5paisa’s ₹0 offer lasts only 30 days, then ₹20/order applies forever.

⚫ 40 orders a month can cost 5paisa traders roughly ₹9,600 a year in brokerage alone: ₹0.

⚫ Navia now offers bonds too, via Bond Vue. 5paisa remains the only one here for currency derivatives.

The comparison shows that Navia and 5paisa follow different pricing models and offer different product features. While Navia provides zero brokerage for life across eligible segments and access to bonds through BondVue, 5paisa offers currency derivatives and follows a different brokerage structure after its introductory period. Investors should compare costs, available products, and platform features based on their trading frequency and investment objectives before making a decision.
