Empowering Young Lives Through Wheelchair Distribution

At Navia, we are committed to driving meaningful social impact by creating inclusive opportunities for individuals in need. Through our CSR initiative, Navia Cares, we continue to support communities by addressing essential needs with empathy and responsibility.

As part of this commitment, we recently conducted a wheelchair distribution initiative to support students with mobility challenges, enabling them to access education with greater ease, and independence.

In this initiative, two students from The Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu were identified based on their mobility requirements.

A. Sahana, daughter of Hal Hasina Begam, is an 11-year-old student studying in the 7th grade at The Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu. Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability (60%) and residing in Adambakkam, Chennai, she faces challenges in mobility and coordination, making it difficult for her to move independently within her school environment. Due to these limitations, she relies on her parents for physical support, often needing to be carried, which affects her ability to participate freely in daily school activities.

Gunamanju K, daughter of V. Kannimuthu, is a 10th-grade student at The Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, currently appearing for her board examinations. Diagnosed with Multiple Disability (80%) and residing in Gerugambakkam, Chennai, she experiences significant challenges in movement and day-to-day functioning. Her condition requires constant assistance, and she depends on her parents for mobility, often needing to be carried. These challenges become even more demanding during important academic phases like examinations, impacting her comfort and accessibility.

Recognizing the challenges they face in their daily school routine, Navia extended support by providing wheelchairs to improve their mobility and overall quality of life.

The distribution was carried out at our office by our CEO, reinforcing our hands-on approach to CSR initiatives. Prior to the distribution, our CEO interacted with the students and their parents, taking the time to understand their journeys and challenges.

These interactions highlighted the importance of not just providing support, but also building meaningful connections that reflect care, respect, and inclusion.

Access to mobility plays a critical role in a child’s educational journey. A wheelchair is not just an assistive device it is a tool that enables.

🔸 Greater independence in daily activities

🔸 Improved participation in school and learning environments

🔸 Reduced physical dependency

🔸 Enhanced confidence and social inclusion

By addressing this fundamental need, we aim to remove barriers that limit opportunities for children with disabilities.
