- Small Support, Lasting Impact
At Navia Cares, we believe that true impact begins when we listen to people’s stories.
Recently, we distributed wheelchairs to three individuals living with locomotor disabilities. While a wheelchair may seem like a simple mobility aid, for them it represents something much greater: freedom, independence, and the ability to move through life with confidence.
Ramesh: A Journey from Dependence to Independence
For 51-year-old Ramesh, mobility has been a challenge since he was affected by polio at the age of four. Living with a 90% locomotor disability, he has spent most of his life depending on others for movement and daily activities.
Ramesh earns around ₹6,000 per month by supplying water cans. However, reaching his workplace and managing his daily routine has never been easy. He often relied on others to help him travel from his home, and his family received additional support from his elder brother to manage everyday expenses.
Despite these challenges, Ramesh continued working hard to support himself and maintain his livelihood.
“Now I can travel from my home on my own. Earlier, I had to depend on others for almost everything. This wheelchair will help me manage my work and daily life with greater confidence.” – Ramesh

Thenmozhi: The Freedom to Go Anywhere
Thenmozhi’s life has been filled with challenges from a very young age.
For 40-year-old Thenmozhi, affected by polio when she was just six months old, she has lived with severe mobility challenges throughout her life. Without a wheelchair, she often had to use her hands to move from one place to another or depend on someone to carry her whenever she needed to travel outside her home.
As an unmarried woman with no source of income, Thenmozhi relies entirely on her relatives for care and support. Simple daily activities that many people perform without a second thought often become difficult tasks for her. Her mobility limitations have also restricted her opportunities to work, socialize, and participate independently in everyday life.
Receiving the wheelchair brought immense joy and relief to Thenmozhi and her family.
“Now I can move on my own. My family can take me anywhere more easily, and I don’t have to struggle using my hands to move around. This wheelchair gives me comfort and freedom.” – Thenmozhi .

Rajeshwari: A Tailor, A Mother, and a National Athlete
Rajeshwari’s story is one of determination.
For 41-year-old Rajeshwari, Affected by polio during childhood and later facing an accident that further worsened her condition, she has struggled with mobility for many years. Simple tasks such as traveling outside her home, sourcing materials for work, and attending important activities often required significant effort and dependence on others.
A married woman and mother of two, Rajeshwari supports her family by running a tailoring business from home. With her husband also living with a disability and the family facing financial challenges, she continues to work hard while pursuing her passion for sports.
Today, Rajeshwari is a national-level para table tennis player.
“This wheelchair will help me manage my tailoring work and participate in sports more easily. I am thankful to Navia for supporting people like us. I hope many more individuals in need receive this kind of help.” – Rajeshwari

Small Support, Lasting Impact
A wheelchair does more than provide movement.
It helps someone reach their workplace. It helps a parent support their family. It helps an athlete pursue their passion. It helps a person move with dignity and confidence.
For Ramesh, Thenmozhi, and Rajeshwari, these wheelchairs represent new opportunities and greater independence.
At Navia Cares, we remain committed to creating meaningful change through initiatives that support accessibility, inclusion, and dignity for all.
Because sometimes, a single wheelchair can help someone move towards a better future.
