Navia Weekly Roundup (Aug 10 – 14, 2026)

Week in the Review
Indian markets witnessed range-bound trading through the week and snapped a two-week winning streak, as elevated crude oil prices and persistent global uncertainty weighed on investor sentiment. However, strong corporate earnings from India Inc, relative stability in the rupee, continued FII participation and a marginal easing in July wholesale inflation provided some support to the market.
Indices Analysis
For the week, the BSE Sensex fell 0.48%, to end at 78,009.25, while the Nifty 50 shed 0.79%, to close at 24,366.00. The Bank Nifty declined 0.39% to 57,491.10 and the Fin Nifty dropped 1.04% to 26,213.65.
Sentiment stayed cautious through the week as Brent crude climbed about 4.6% toward $87 a barrel amid stalled US-Iran peace talks and renewed worries over the Strait of Hormuz, erasing the market’s midweek gains. Despite several attempts to reclaim the 24,500–24,600 zone, the Nifty failed to sustain higher levels, keeping the market in a consolidation phase. Midweek, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran’s announcement that he would step down triggered selling across Tata group stocks, with TCS tumbling 4% in a single session as succession uncertainty weighed.
The downside remained limited, however, as the June-quarter earnings season stayed strong with 33 Nifty 50 companies beating estimates, while July wholesale inflation eased marginally to 9.78% from 9.87% on softer fuel and power prices. A stable rupee, moderating bond yields, gradually improving FII participation and in-line US inflation data that kept hopes of a patient Federal Reserve alive all helped cushion the fall.
