Week in the Review<\/h2>\n

Indian equity benchmarks ended the week on a positive note with Nifty comfortably closing above 24,300, supported by strong buying in information technology stocks following better-than-expected earnings from heavyweight companies. The market remained resilient despite weak global cues, a weaker rupee, elevated crude oil prices and continued foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows.<\/p>\n\n

Indices Analysis<\/h2>\n

For the week, the BSE Sensex rose 1.12%, to end at 78,151.45, while the Nifty 50 added 1.28%, to close at 24,334.30. The Bank Nifty gained 1.60% to 58,521.40 and the Fin Nifty advanced 1.19% to 26,903.35.<\/p>\n

Notably, the Nifty traded within a narrow 368-point band between 24,000 and 24,368 through the week, its tightest weekly range of 2026, underscoring consolidation even as the June-quarter earnings season shifted into full gear. Better-than-expected numbers from technology heavyweights powered the IT pack 4.3 percent higher, with revenue growth at TCS and HCLTech and a beat from Tech Mahindra drawing buyers back into a sector that had slid around 23 percent this year. Softer US inflation data eased rate-hike worries and added fuel to the bottom-fishing.<\/p>\n

Crude oil was the week’s counterweight, with Brent jumping about 12.5 percent toward $86 a barrel as US-Iran hostilities intensified, pressuring the rupee. Despite the geopolitical strain and continued FII outflows, Indian equities held firm, with Reliance Industries reporting results after the final session and HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank due over the weekend on the back of positive pre-quarter updates.<\/p>\n\n

Sectoral performance remained mixed during the week, with the Nifty IT index emerging as the top gainer, rising 4.3 percent, driven by strong buying in technology stocks following upbeat earnings. The Nifty Consumer Durables index advanced 3 percent, while the Nifty Media index gained 2.5 percent. The Nifty Private Bank index rose 1.5 percent, and the Nifty Oil & Gas index added 1 percent. On the downside, the Nifty Capital Markets index was the biggest laggard, declining nearly 3 percent. The Nifty Realty and Metal indices fell 2 percent each, while the Nifty India Defence index slipped 1.5 percent and the Nifty FMCG index lost 1 percent.<\/p>\n\n
