It uses something called&nbsp;the Typical&nbsp;Price.&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;the&nbsp;average of the high, low, and close of a candle. Then it compares that Typical Price to its Simple Moving Average over a chosen period, usually fourteen or twenty days.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She drew lines in the sand. \u201cIf price stays close to its average, CCI stays near zero. If price moves far above average, CCI turns positive. If it moves far below, CCI turns negative.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ritesh nodded. \u201cSo&nbsp;zero is balance.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExactly. CCI commonly moves between plus one hundred and minus one hundred. Readings above plus one hundred suggest&nbsp;price&nbsp;may be extended. Readings below minus one hundred suggest price may be stretched on the downside.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sara paused. \u201cBut&nbsp;here\u2019s&nbsp;the important part. CCI can move beyond plus two hundred or minus two hundred. When that happens, it&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;automatically mean reversal. It compares a stock to itself.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes.&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;why CCI is&nbsp;studied&nbsp;across stocks, commodities, forex, and other markets. It looks at behavior, not valuation.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She continued, \u201cTraders&nbsp;generally observe&nbsp;CCI in two ways. First, to avoid entering when&nbsp;price&nbsp;is already extended. Second,&nbsp;to watch&nbsp;for momentum shifts. If price makes a new&nbsp;high&nbsp;but CCI does not, momentum may be weakening.
